BOBBY, TANK, LLOYD, HURRICANE CHRIS TO PERFORM @ JENA 6 CONCERT
A number of hip-hop and R&B acts have signed on to play a September 29 concert in support of the Jena Six, the black teens charged in connection with the beating of a white teen in Jena, Louisiana. Among the acts scheduled to play the Jena 6 Empowerment Concert at Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama, according to the event's promoter, are Lloyd, Baby Boy, Twista, Jagged Edge, Tank, Killer Mike, Disturbing Tha Peace's Small World, B5, LAX Boys and Hurricane Chris Recording artists Nick Cannon, Sean P. and Bobby Brown are also booked to perform at the benefit concert.
Organizers are hoping the event will raise national awareness of the incidents surrounding the case, in which six black teens appear to be victims of a racially biased judicial system. "What's happening to the Jena 6 is not an isolated incident --it could happen to any of us," Baby Boy tells the Hollywood Reporter. "We are asking men of all persuasions to stand on the front line with our young people and send a message demanding accountability of law enforcement officials and the judicial system."
In conjunction with the concert, Cannon and Danity Kane's Aubrey will host a Sept. 28 peace rally at Birmingham's Parker High School.

NEW PICS: MARIAH HONORED AT VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC EVENT; MYA
Is Mimi working that purple dress or what?!
Over the course of her near-20 year career Mariah Carey has been very generous on the philanthropic front. For her efforts -- particularly with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, the top-selling pop/R&B diva was praised at an exclusive, star-studded gala at New York’s Lincoln Center. Since 1997, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has successfully restored and sustained instrumental music programs in 1,500 public schools in over 100 cities around the country. To date, The Foundation has provided $40 million in new musical instruments, affecting the lives of more than 1 million students. Carey has been participatory in aiding the foundation’s goal for the past decade -- dating all the way back to 1998 up to last year’s donation of her Escada dress (she wore in an Intel Cenrtino ad campaign) for auction.
"We at The VH1 Save The Music Foundation are thrilled to be honoring Mariah Carey at our 10th anniversary celebration," director Paul Cothran told The BV Newswire today. "It would be hard to look back on the past ten years and recount each of our triumphs and successes without recalling individuals such as Mariah that have donated so much of their time and efforts to restoring music education programs across the country."
I'm assuming Mya was there just because she really had no other place to be.

THE GAME GETS A SLAP ON THE WRIST FOR IMPERSONATING A COP. BIG DUMMY.
How many rappers have we seen put themselves into the most stupidest stuff? The Game is no exception. Dude got knocked for impersonating a cop. Lucky for him, he only received a slap on the wrist. According to the Associated Press, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Marc Whiten granted the rapper a conditional discharge, meaning that if he isn't arrested again within six months, the misdemeanor charge will be dismissed and the case file sealed.
The artist, born Jayceon Taylor, was arrested Nov. 16 after he allegedly told a cab driver that he was an undercover police officer and directed him to run several red lights. Taylor, 27, hailed the cab following his appearance on CBS' Late Show wth David Letterman. The cabbie drove about 13 blocks before he was pulled over, police said at the time. The cab driver realized they were being trailed by cops and asked who was in the car, Game recalled. The rapper said he told the driver they were the hip-hop police, and the driver decided on his own to run the red lights.
The Game’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, said it was unlikely that a cab driver, seeing his client's tattoos, would have thought he was a policeman. "I've never seen a cop with writing all over his face," said The Game, who had rejected offers of a plea deal that would have kept him out of jail in exchange for a guilty plea. He has always maintained his innocence.

26-YEAR-OLD TAMPA WOMAN SENTENCED TO JAIL TIME FOR FORCING DAUGHTER TO TAKE UP FOR HERSELF.
Oh, wow. I'm getting mixed vibes from this story: A Tampa, Florida mother was sentenced to a year behind bars for encouraging her child to stick up for herself against a bully. Can you really blame a mother for wanting her child to defend herself? My mama and daddy were quick to tell me, 'You let so and so beat your ass, when you get home, you're gonna beat again.' So, I don't whether to be upset over the fact that this woman has been sentenced to jail for advising her child to do what many parents have been telling their kids to do since the beginning of time OR the fact that her silly ass sat on the witness stand chewing gum and blowing/popping bubbles. I would've found her in contempt of court for that alone!
TAMPA -- It's a year in jail for a mother found guilty of instigating a fight between her daughter and another girl on a school bus. Shayla Muldrow, chewing gum and dressed in a blazer on the witness stand, recalled the March morning she boarded her daughters' school bus. She wasn't planning trouble, she said. She just wanted to put an end to the bullying her 9-year-old daughter had been experiencing on bus rides to and from Booker T. Washington Elementary School. "I wanted to talk it out," Muldrow said Tuesday. "You don't have to solve your problems by fighting." A good idea, in theory. But anyone who has seen the March 2 videotape from Bus No. 3866 knows that's not how things worked out.
Muldrow, 26, helped her daughter shed her backpack -- "I'm not going to let her fight with her book bag on," she testified -- and instructed her to "handle it" with the 10-year-old girl who had slapped her daughter two days before. "They go a-tumblin,'" said Muldrow, who blew a bubble on the stand. "I stepped out of the way and just watched." She watched again Tuesday afternoon as six jurors filed into the courtroom after 90 minutes of deliberation and declared her guilty of misdemeanor charges of trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her attorneys argued Tuesday that the case of the bus confrontation was a "rush to judgment." They depicted their client as a concerned parent who had tired of her daughter getting pushed around after two months on the bus. Even the substitute driver for the route testified that he had complained to his superiors on multiple occasions about the rowdiness of its riders.
When she gets out of jail, Muldrow must serve six months probation, go to anger-management class, perform 50 hours of community service and write a letter of apology to the bus driver. She has been there before, having accumulated 15 arrests before the March 2 bus incident, which was broadcast across the country. She also spent a day in jail Sept. 5 after being arrested on new charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and for attaching improper tags to her vehicle.

CANDIDS: USHER IN NYC; BEY & JAY LEAVE DIDDY'S PARTY; J. LO & MARC IN LONDON
Mr. Raymond, who has been acting more like a nagging Mrs. Raymond was spotted strolling the streets of New York City carrying a freaking purse! Yall can call it a 'messenger bag' if you want to, but considering Usher's bitching attitude lately, I'd completely understand why he'd prefer to walk around with a purse on his arm; therefore and thus and such, I will refer to it as such: a damn purse.
