MARION JONES RETURNS 5 OLYMPIC MEDALS; ACCEPTS 2-YEAR BAN; DUBBED 'ONE OF THE BIGGEST FRAUDS IN SPORTING HSITORY.'

Disgraced sprinter Marion Jones has accepted a two-year ban after admitting to the use of a prohibited substance and has relinquished the five Olympic medals she won at the 2000 Sydney Games, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) said on Monday. After years of denial, the American sprinter told a U.S. court on Friday that she had taken the banned substance known as the "clear" from September 2000 through to July 2001 in violation of the rules of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and USADA. Jones, 31, also pleaded guilty to two counts of providing false statements to federal investigators and will be sentenced in January.

Jones's two-year ban began on Monday, the day she accepted the suspension, USADA said.

"The outcome of this story is a valuable reminder that true athletic accomplishment is not obtained through cheating and any medal acquired through doping is only fool's gold," USADA chief executive Travis Tygart said in a statement. Jones is also disqualified from all competitive results obtained on and subsequent to Sept. 1, 2000, and must forfeit all medals, results, points and prizes from that date, the anti-doping agency said. Her lawyer, Henry DeDippo, confirmed she had already returned the five Olympic medals.

Meanwhile, track-and-field's governing body has expressed "disappointed" in Jones' admitted use of performance-enhancing drugs. "If she had trusted to her own natural gifts and allied them to self sacrifice and hard work I sincerely believe that she could have been an honest champion at the Sydney Games," said Lamine Diack, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), in a statement. "Now, instead, Marion Jones will be remembered as one of the biggest frauds in sporting history."

Jones, who announced her retirement on Friday, won three gold medals in the 100 and 200 metres and 4x400 metres relay and bronzes in the 4x100 metres relay and long jump at the Sydney Games. "She apologizes to her competitors and hopes the record books will be amended to accurately reflect their achievements," a source close to Jones who did not wish to be identified told Reuters.

According to Department of Justice authorities, when interviewed by federal officials in California Jones denied having taken performance-enhancing drugs. Officials said she made other false statements during their investigation into the activities of the Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative (BALCO), and to New York federal agents investigating a cheque fraud/money laundering scheme.

Tygart said the efforts of those involved in the investigations was greatly appreciated because of their "steadfast commitment to exposing the full truth of the BALCO doping conspiracy and their willingness to partner with USADA to hold accountable those who cheat their fellow competitors and sports fans".

WOMAN SUES JUDGE GREG MATHIS FOR CALLING HER A 'HILLBILLY.'

I laughed my ass off when I read the following story regarding a woman suing Judge Greg Mathis for calling her a 'hillbilly'. The woman, who is also suing Warner Bros. and Telepictures, claims no one told her about Mathis' judicial status.

According to TMZ.com, Melody Burnham of San Diego says the show invited her to bring her lawsuit against a tenant to Mathis' court. The woman alleges producers never explained that Mathis was not a sitting judge in a real court. Burnham's lawsuit, which seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, also claims that when she appeared before Mathis, she was still kept in the dark about her case not being in a real court – despite the presence of television cameras, the show's crew and a green room. She also says she didn't figure out that it was a television show until more than a year later.

Additionally, Burnham alleges she was held hostage in a dressing room for six hours without food, and that she didn't know she was going to be countersued until minutes before the trial. She also says she was ridiculed by Mathis when he called her a "hillbilly" after pictures submitted into evidence showed her washing machine outside of her residence. According to the lawsuit, Mathis dismissed the case, awarded damages to neither party, and stated: "I'm sending you hillbillies back to the hills.

A spokesperson for Telepictures Productions, the company that produces "Judge Mathis," tells TMZ: "We absolutely believe this case has absolutely no merit. Greg Mathis is a respected lawyer and former judge. The show, currently in its ninth season, follows strict procedures for case selection, releases and binding awards. All participants sign releases before appearing on the program and any allegations that this was not a real case are unfounded and fabricated. Judge Mathis' track record for advocacy and fairness to all speaks for itself."

FRED GOLDMAN LEARNS, WHEN IT COMES TO O.J.'s 'BLING', EVERYTHING THAT GLITTERS AIN'T GOLD.

Fred Goldman has learned--well, at least I hope he has; although I'm willing to bet that he hasn't--that everything that glitters isn't gold. After Goldman's attorneys successfully sued to get O.J. Simpson's Rolex watch, the timepiece will have to be returned after it was found to be a cheap imitation. According to TMZ.com, the Goldmans thought it was worth as much as $22,000 and intended to sell it with money going toward a largely unpaid $33.5 million wrongful death settlement. However, an appraisal from San Francisco jeweler Shreve & Co. concluded it was worth only about $100. Simpson had told his lawyer, Ronald Slates, he paid $125 for it. The watch's low value qualified it as an exemption. Cook said Goldman will comply with the ruling and return the watch.

A jury acquitted Simpson for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Fred Goldman's son Ron Goldman, but a civil court found the ex NFL-star liable. So far, Simpson has paid very little of the $33.5 million judgment.

In the article, Tamia, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis-- a chronic disease that affects the central nervous symptom--four years old, discusses the effects her illness placed on her pregnancy. While Tamia is home taking care of the couple's 2 girls, Grant, will soon begin his 14th year in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns. The soft-spoken gentlemen says he's dreading his return to the basketball court. 'During Myla's first year, I was injured, so I was home all the time.
