Isn't it strange how we often believe that the same people, particularly celebs, we think are living the perfect life, are the very same people whose household is in terrible turbulence and disarray? I actually enjoyed watching Shaq and Shaunie's reality show, Shaquille on ESPN 2...even though its season only consisted of 6 episodes. But from what I observed, they seemed to have been living the American Dream. Fast forward a couple of years and now that same couple is now entwined in one of the nastiest NBA divorce proceedings ever. The 'he say, she say' is taken to a whole 'nother level. So much so, that Shaq has declared that he will never discuss the details of his disintegrating marriage to Shaunie.
Earlier this week the Miami Heat titan stood in front of reporters during the team's pre-training camp media day to discuss any and every other activity--on and off the court--he'd involved himself during the off-season. Everything except the sordid details regarding his divorce from Shaunie over several financial issues. "That is something that I won't discuss now and I won't discuss 10 years from now. I won't ever discuss it," he said. "If I ever have a bad game or bad couple of games, I won't blame it on that. This is something that I obviously have to deal with and I'm going to deal with it the best way possible."
As previously reported, Shaq suspects his soon-to-be ex of hiding assets going into the divorce. Shaunie, he says in court documents, has been "secretive about her assets . . . particularly with respect to certain properties owned or titled in either her name alone or in other entities." The baller, who is reported to earn around $20 million a year with the Heat, wants the court to order Shaunie to give a ”correct accounting of all money, funds, stocks, bonds, and other securities (including bearer securities)" that she came into during the marriage.
