Yall, let's keep Maia in our prayers. I came across this video yesterday and after watching it (which had to be the longest six minutes of my life) I told myself that I wouldn't bother putting it on this site because I didn't want to come across as looking as if I was exploiting her. If you've read my previous blog posts on Maia, you'd know that, unlike other bloggers, I am a fan of hers (as well as her mother and author, the late Bebe Moore Campbell) and therefore my heart truly goes out to her because of everything she's been through in the last couple of years.
Apparently, a couple of messy-ass, punk-ass dudes who obviously never had any kind of home training or respect for other people's shortcomings, felt the need to record Maia when she was obviously having a bad day. This is the second time this year, folks have used her mental illness against her to blast her on the Internet. And that's why I didn't even entertain the notion of posting that particular video. But now, enough is enough. The most recent video, which I posted below, is not funny or entertaining in any way. If anything, it's a cry for help. Now, I know we can't help someone unless they want help, but still, if someone, anyone, out there who happens to read this, and has the resources to get Maia the help she needs, please do so. This is my sole reason for posting this video.

SHE'S A CRACKWHORE POINT BLANK. IF SHE HAS SOME KIND OF MENTAL ILLNESS IT AIN'T MAKING HER ACT OUT LIKE THAT. ONLY CRACK ROCKS CAN MAKE HER ACTING LIKE SHE IS IN THE VIDEO. DONT FEEL SORRY FOR HER AT ALL.
The hell you calling a crackwhore. You don't know what that girl has been through. It's been well documented that she has a mental disorder. She needs a helping hand not some dumbass calling her out.
Some of her mother's friends tried to help her but looks like they gave up. The sad part about addiction is that 1,000 people can try helping, but until the addict is ready to receive that help, it's useless. I read so many people have tried to reach out to her but she keeps on running away. Plus if one tries to help her and she says leave me the heck alone I'm grown, there is not much more one can do.
SouthernGurl your post was very sincere and like you I would also like to see Maia get help. People keep saying oh she's so pretty how did her life come to this? Yes, she was once considered to be one of the most beautiful black actresses in Hollywood. But let's get real, beauty plays no part in someone's mental stability and she is proof of that.
SG I agree with BMB when she said that your post was sincere. It really is. I just wish others who are going from blog to blog making ignorant comments would recognize that this video is not for entertainment purposes only. This is about a human being. A real person.
I just don't understand why people find enjoyment in someone's downfall.

Bebe Campbell-Moore was one of my favorite authors and yes there was a mention of ongoing problems with Maia, they did have a rocky relationship and no doubt coupled with the mental illness I believed that Maia rejected the assistance feeling her mother had no right to control her. but like SG said in another story she posted, Bebe and Maia were able to make peace with each other before Bebe passed away. Seems like as of late that has been the only good thing that has happened to Maia. I will continue to pray for her because God knows if I had the resources I would go out, find Maia and literally drag her to the nearest mental health facility.
What's this I hear about Maia not being Bebe's biological child? I read on another site that Bebe said that Maia is her step-daughter and not her real daughter.
Anybody else know anything about this?
What happened to her hair? Is that wig she's wearing? Her eyes are so empty, dark and shallow. There's no light there. This is sad. She looks like a blind person when she talks. Lord have mercy! And the n*ggas (yes n*ggas) that videotaped this and put it on the net need to be dealt with.
Prayer won't b enuff 4 Maia. She needs 2 b forcefully placed in treatment 2 get the help she needs. She has a damn daughter 4 Christ sakes! That alone should give her da motivation 2 get her self right in the mind.

Word up Night-Night. What made the situation even worse is when that other dude started blasting her for 'disrespecting' his boy. His ass needs to be capped too. It's obvious from her statements that he's been beating her on the regular. Ass-capping is too good for someone like that, but it is a place to start. I hope that someone who truly cares about her will get her away from that environment. There has got to be somebody out there who cares enough about her to want her to get well. Where's her husband? Or is he now her ex-husband? I heard he was a puerto rican dude.

I share the same sentiments as candylicker! Aint nothing wrong with Maia. She just doing this shit for attention and i bet she's sitting somewhere reading what errybody is saying about her and it's blowing her ego up. She know just what she doing. That girl aint sick. it takes a crackwhore to know how they must react to crack. That is cold and heartless thing to say about someone! This poor child has deep seeded issues that relate to the passing of her mother and then suddenly her father.and to add to that, they took her child away from her. which added to the addiction plus the mental state that she has... if you can remember, she has always had some type of issue...read some dayum books or newpapers then you would know! Don't judge because you may handle stress differently than others or use a different drug of choice to suppress your woe's.
