RUMORS CONFIRMED: DA BRAT TO SPEND 3 YEARS IN PRISON ON ASSAULT CHARGE.

Earlier this month I posted a 'real or rumor' blog post about Da Brat being sent to the slammer for slamming a rum bottle upside the head of Shayla Stevens, a Atlanta Falcons cheerleader and waitress at Jermaine Dupri's Studio 72 nightclub last Halloween which resulted in the waitress suffering permanent facial scarring. Well, the rumors are true. Last week an Atlanta judge sentenced the 34-year-old Funkdafied rapper, real name Shawntae Harris, to three years in jail, followed by seven years probation and 200 hours of community service after Harris entered a guilty pleas to aggravated assault in the case. According to reports, about six members of Harris’s family wept when a sheriff’s deputy took her into custody. “I love y’all,” Harris, said as she was led out of the courtroom. “We love you too” the relatives replied in unison.

Three years behind bars. That means no more yachting with Mariah and Nick on the beaches of St. Tropez. But don't feel too sorry for Shawntae, who was previously convicted in 2000 for reckless conduct. I'm pretty sure she'll adapt to her environment very well. *wink* This female rappers gonna get enough of putting their hands on and/or shooting other people as well as mushing Blackberrys and cellphones in folks faces.

REAL OR RUMOR: DA BRAT TO SERVE 3 YEARS IN THE SLAMMER ON AN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT CHARGE.

While LisaRaye is traveling from city to city living it up in clubs, taking shots to the head (which some would consider unbecoming of a First Lady) with the likes of Lil Kim, Queen Pen, Missy Elliott and Gabrielle Union, and waiting for the day when she can throw her cheating hubby and his alleged mistress under the bus, her half-sister, rapper Da Brat could be walking in the same footsteps as fellow rappers Foxy Brown and Remy Ma. Word around the web is that the washed up rapper from Chicago has agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors to serve three years behind bars due to an assault charge she picked up after knocking a cocktail waitress out cold for bumping into her at Jermaine Dupri's costume party last Halloween. Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, got into fisticuffs with the waitress and by the end of the night and after a bunch of shoves, pushes and windmill shenanigans, Da Brat had clocked the waitress in the face with a champagne bottle.

Since the incident Da Brat has been out on bail and will allegedly turn herself in to law authorities by the end of this week. But considering Brat's 'preferences,' could this really be considered as punishment?

NICK CANNON AND HIS COUGAR, MARIAH CAREY STIR UP MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR NEW 'RELATIONSHIP.'

If these two don't sit their asses down somewhere, I know something. If the rumors about Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon dating are true, I swear I will crown them as the corniest celebrity couple of 2008. I swear to God I will. Last week, I made a post about the two hooking up after starring as the number one boy in her upcoming video. And although her folks denied the dating allegations, Nick Cannon and his cougar were spotted looking all cuddly and cozy and whatnot at a party last Monday night in Las Vegas. According to PEOPLE.com, after landing by private jet, the pair headed straight to Privé Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood, where Cannon was scheduled to deejay. Making their way to a VIP table, the pop diva whispered into Cannon's ear just before he took to the turntables.

With her BFF Da Brat by her side, Carey – wearing over-sized sunglasses and dressed in all-black – danced to the music as she sipped water and white wine, then feasted on hamburgers, chicken fingers and French fries. Witnesses also said that Nick may have given Mimi a secret shout out from the DJ booth. When he played Jay-Z's song Public Service Announcement, Carey stood up in the VIP section and yelled along to the line: I got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain.

Oh, Lord.

T-BOZ TAKES BLAQUE UNDER HER WING; GROUP TO STAR IN THEIR OWN NEW REALITY SHOW, 'BLAQUE BY POP DEMAND.'

Looks like TLC's T-Boz and Chilli are going to be quite busy in 2008. And by busy, I'm not referring to the never-see-the-light-of-day release of their individual solo albums which were supposed to in stores by the end of '07. Anyhoo, the following press release (which I received in my inbox four days ago. I know, I got to do better) almost flew completely over my head. And although I love me some TLC, I'm not too sure how I feel about T-Boz taking the girls of Blaque a.k.a. TLC's mini-mes, under her wing in hopes of reviving the girl's careers as R&B artists. Especially when T-Boz and Chilli received so much slack after shunning R U The Girl with T-Boz and Chilli? reality show winner, O'So Krispie after the show wrapped.

Where have all the singing groups gone? They seem to be a thing of the past. Not so fast… the reemergence of Blaque, brainchild of TLC’s Lisa (Left Eye) Lopes, shatters the notion that girl groups are relics of times gone by. The upcoming show, reportedly titled Blaque by Pop Demand, chronicles the reintroduction of this already well-known group to the world. Now mentored by Tionne (T-Boz) Watkins, we all get a “front row seat,” as the third biggest-selling girl group of all time, TLC, pass their tiara to the capable hands of the only group truly birthed by the original.

There have been many whom have tried to capture the allure and style of TLC; however, Blaque is the only group that can legitimately capture the essence of their predecessors, while incorporating their own distinctiveness, which enables them to move forward in a fresh and thrilling direction. The three vibrant performers that make up Blaque are: Shamari Fears, Natina Reed, and Brandi Williams; they need not stand in anyone’s shadow. These women are proven artists, stepping back into the scene to recover “music” in its purest form.

AFTER THE JUMP, READ MORE ABOUT BLAQUE'S BLAQUE BY POP DEMAND REALITY SHOW AS WELL AS A LIST OF GUEST STARS WHO WILL MAKE CAMEO APPEARANCES.

Rumor has it that the show will be populated with cameo appearances, by Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition (husband of Shamari Fears), Kurupt (ex-fiance of Natina Reed and father of her son, Trent), T-Boz, and Da Brat, this fly-on-the-wall TV show promises to deliver all that it should. Fans will want to watch as these forcefully dynamic women claim their rightful position in music history.

IN TODAY'S 'THIS HEFFAH HERE!' NEWS: DA BRAT GOES INTO NAOMI/FOXY MODE AND BUSTS SOMEONE UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH A RUM BOTTLE.

In today's 'this heffah, here!' news, Da Brat is arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a waitress in Georgia. So, she think she's Naomi Campbell now? Or Foxy Brown? She think she can walk her butch-ass around hitting people upside the head with bottles of rum now? This heffah, here!

Rapper Da Brat was arrested early Thursday after a dispute at a nightclub in Tucker, Georgia. The incident allegedly occurred at Studio 72 which is owned by Da Brat's mentor, Atlanta music mogul Jermaine Dupri. Witnesses told police the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, and a 24-year-old waitress at the club got into a squabble after the waitress bumped into her. At some point, the waitress walked away and moments later was hit in the face with the bottle of rum. According to police reports, the waitress, who sustained a deep laceration to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead, was driven to a hospital by a friend.

Da Brat was booked into DeKalb County jail on a charge of aggravated assault, said a bonding agent at the jail.

MORE DETAILS AFTER THE JUMP!
This isn't Da Brat's first brush with the law. Back in 2000, the rapper was charged with aggravated battery, for allegedly pistol-whipping a woman at a club in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The rapper was accused of attacking a woman at Chili Peppers, after the two got into an argument while the woman was trying to get into the nightclub's VIP area. The woman was later taken to Grady Hospital, where she received six stitches for a cut in the head. The rapper was later sentenced to perform 80 hours of community service, serve a year's probation and pay a $1,000 fine.

Da Brat was the first female rapper to have a platinum-selling album. She has appeared on VH1 reality shows Celebrity Fit Club and The Surreal Life as well as MTV's Celebrity Rap Superstar where she served as a judge.

T-BOZ ON HER SOLO ALBUM, A TLC TOUR & THE WEAKEST TLC ALBUM

While TLC fans patiently wait for a solo release from Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas under Akon’s Kon Live Distribution, (Ray Lavender, Brick & Lace) another TLC member has her sights set on her first album and reveals some candid thoughts on the “weakest” TLC album.

New York City/Konvictmuzik.net --- On August 14, 2007, Tionne “T-boz” Watkins of the singing group TLC, revealed that we can expect a solo album from her in the near future. In an exclusive interview at TLC’s number 1 fan website cybertlcworld.net, she broke the news first to her fans, many whom have been waiting years for her to make an appearance on the forum. She gave back to their heart’s content with a very in depth look at her life and what the future holds, as webmaster, Chris Wilson interviewed her for over an hour. The questions were all submitted by TLC fans, which was one of the most candid interviews you will ever hear from a celebrity. Just over two weeks later on August 29, 2007, she gave another interview, responding once again to fans and giving more info on her upcoming album.

“I’m really working on it this time,” T-boz said followed by a laugh when asked when the album can be expected. The album is years in the making for T-boz, who is no stranger to releasing solo material, under her belt is past collaborations on songs with Da Brat, Keith Sweat, Raphael Saadiq, YoungBloodz, and Mac 10. “I got like 17 songs in 3 weeks,” she boasts, “I want to do about 30 songs and see which ones I like the most” after which she will decide who she wants to have featured on her songs. “Dallas has a song on my album,” T-boz said, when asked if she or TLC would ever work with Dallas Austin, despite noting that she will be keeping the producers working on her album a secret. She did however reveal some producers she will be interested in working with, including Timbaland, Polow Da Don and Pharrell Williams once gain. Tracks recorded include some alternative Rock tracks she has already recorded and she plans on recording more songs in that direction, which is based heavily on her Nirvana influence.

As far as the possibility of another TLC album, fans will have to hold off on that thought for now. She however mentioned “I can see doing a TLC tour.” TLC’s last studio album; 3D was released on November 12, 2002, months after the death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in April of 2002. The album underperformed and T-boz had some candid thoughts on that era. “I think the singles that were picked were the wrong singles,” and confessed that 3D was TLC’s “weakest” album. “I probably would have came out with Turntable dedicating the track to Lisa Lopes, and she also believed that So So Dumb was a single.”

“I haven’t figured out who I want to be with yet,” T-boz responded pertaining to what label she is signed to. Akon, co-CEO of Konvict Muzik is among those who have already expressed interest in signing T-boz. What is certain is that she has a clear cut vision of the direction of her album and she emphasizes “I’m coming,” assuring fans that they will not be disappointed, “I have a lot of goals and dreams still left to fulfill,” and she is not putting an age to when she will retire from the music industry.
