NEW PICS: TATYANA ALI IN KING MAGAZINE; ACTRESS DISHES ON NEW ALBUM, HARVARD UNIVERSITY, 'ASHLEY BANKS' & BARACK OBAMA.

Dominican beauty and Harvard University graduate Tatyana Ali is featured once again in King magazine. In her featurette the 29-year-old actress-turned-singer discussed everything from her new film Hotel California (which co-stars Tyson Beckford), her sophomore album The Light (read more about that here on Real Gossip 101 by clicking here) as well as the the surrogate work she and sister Anastasia willingly participate in for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Don't let the Nick-at-Nite reruns fool you. Believe it or not, 'Ashley Banks' Fresh Prince of Bel Air is now a grown-ass woman. “Look, that show changed my life,” Tatyana says of her experience. “It used to freak me out watching the show, but I look at it now and say, ‘That shit was funny.’”
TATYANA ON HER ROLE IN 'HOTEL CALIFORNIA': [Laughs] "I do get jacked up. I’m known more for lighter stuff, obviously for comedy, but this is really very dramatic. And my character experiences a lot of violence and gets caught up in a situation where she has to fight for her life."

TATYANA ON HER NEW ALBUM 'THE LIGHT': "I found my voice with this album, The Light. I can never stop singing. Remember, I recorded my first album [1998’s Kiss the Sky, MJJ Music] when I was 16, and other people wrote most of the songs. I really wanted the next album that I did to express who I am. And the only way I can do that is to write it myself. So in that sense, I found my voice. I finally paired up with a producer named Johnny J, who has sold 100 million albums worldwide and is responsible for a lot of 2Pac’s music."

TATYANA ON HER WORK IN BARACK OBAMA'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN: "I’ve been working as a surrogate for his campaign. Surrogates can be politicians, actors, musicians or private citizens—anyone who volunteers in the campaign. Since the Iowa caucuses, I’ve been going to colleges and speaking to students, not just about Obama but about the importance of participating in the process. The notion that one vote doesn’t matter really is a lie. Just because people have done us wrong doesn’t mean we should give up. One of the reasons I did volunteer was because I was pissed at what happened in 2000 and in 2004. It made me cry. I needed to be hands-on and help, so I signed up to volunteer. You can’t let the past dictate the future. This is a fight worth fighting. I actually studied political studies and Afro-American studies in school, which was my major. I’m very interested in politics privately, but I think that each individual should be politically active. It’s really important because politics affects your everyday life; it affects how much we pay for gas. Hello? Those are the things you’re voting for in the booth, and I think people forget that. The next big fight is to get people to come out in the general election against McCain."

AFTER THE JUMP READ ABOUT TATYANA'S YEARS AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY AND IF SHE BELIEVES FOLKS WILL EVER FORGET ABOUT 'ASHLEY BANKS.'

TATYANA ON IF SHE THINKS FOLKS WILL EVER FORGET ABOUT 'ASHLEY BANKS': "Sure, maybe. It’s not my goal. But it certainly stretched me as an actor. That’s why there’s something about the art itself, and performing, that I truly love. That still drives me. I’ve been in this business for 24 years, so there are a lot of things that I know intuitively. If I’m in the position to bring up an incredible writer, director or producer, I’ll do it in some way."

TATYANA ON HER HARVARD EDUCATION (F.Y.I. SHE GRADUATED WITH HONORS): "In Harvard, everybody was extraordinary in the town that they came from. When you get there, nobody is more extraordinary than anyone else. College was my opportunity to be around my peers, which you don’t get to do when you’re a child actor. And I wanted to be normal and see what else was out there, see what else I was good at. And there are some other things that I’m good at. I’m good at the sciences, I love learning about plants. You know, I’m a dork…it’s cool. I’ve come to terms with that and I dig it a little."

NEW PICS: STACEY DASH'S KING MAG (JUNE '08) PHOTSPREAD: DISHES ON NEW LINGERIE LINEM BRINGING SEXY BACK, MAKING MEN WORK OR 'IT.' & MORE.

41-year old actress/entrepreneur Stacey Dash, arguably the sexiest over 40 actress next to LisaRaye, is the featured cover story in King magazine's June 2008 issue. And she isn't gracing the cover because of her drop dead looks. The actress, who says she was sick and tired of seeing girls wearing jeans around their buns to show their thong (hold up: are women still doing that? Let me find out that that is so 2001), has launched her own lingerie line called Letters of Marque (currently in 30 stores around the country and 10 stores overseas), in order to really bring sexy back. 'You can be sexy without being too provocative. Mainly, underwear should hang well on a woman's body. It's all mental. She can put on a pair of panties and a wifebeater and feel like the sexiest thing around. I've done that before and it feels great, says the married mother of two. Dash also revealed the meaning and the reasons she had for naming her new line Letters of Marque, taking men's taste in lingerie into consideration while designing the line and whether or not she still considers herself sexy...sexy enough to bring sexy back.

Peep the excerpts below:

STACEY DASH ON THE MEANING BEHIND 'LETTERS OF MARQUE': I was looking through my heritage, and it turns out the name 'Dash' comes from our great-great grandfather, a Dutch pirate who landed in the Barbados. So I started researching piracy, and in the middle of the paragraph, I saw this phrase 'letter of marque,' and it just looked beautiful. It turns out that it's a historical document. So, say I'm the Queen of England and you're a pirate. If I give you a letter of marque, that'd make you a privateer, meaning you have the right to go into whatever country I tell you to and rape, pillage and steal whatever you want, as long as I get a percentage. So a letter of marque is a document that gives you permission to invade. I thought, Oh, my God, that's perfect for underwear!'

STACEY DASH ON IF SHE TAKES MEN'S TASTES INTO ACCOUNT WHEN DESIGNING LINGERIE: Of course. I'd be foolish not to. Women may not always admit it, but a big part of buying lingerie is, 'Will this turn him on or not?' But really, if a woman feels sexy in something, a man will ultimately find her sexy regardless. When I wear my nightgown, my husband can't keep his hands off of me! A man has to work for it though. In fact, one of Letters of Marque signatures is buttons; in order for a man to get to what you're concealing, he has to unbutton you. The best things in life don't come easy.

STACEY ON IF SHE CONSIDERS HERSELF SEXY: I think there's an innocence to my sexiness. It's not like I'm wearing just a G-string and stockings, or tassels on my nipples. My ass isn't hanging out of my thong. I've learned so much in the last 20 years. I feel better, sexier and happier than I've ever felt in my entire life. People say, 'But you're getting old,' and that is such bullsh!t. I'm just getting better.

Check out Stacey when she co-stars in the upcoming Sonny Liston biopic, Phantom Punch.

RUSSELL SIMMONS' GIRLFRIEND, PORSCHLA IN KING MAGAZINE; TALKS KIMORA, GOLD DIGGING & OLDER MEN.

Russell Simmons' first post-Kimora-girlfriend, 25-year-old model and aspiring yoga instructor, Porschla Coleman has nothing but love for Simmons' estranged wife and fellow model Kimora Lee Simmons. In an interview with King magazine, Coleman defends Kimora's bossy, mean and holier-than-thou attitude stating Kimora is nothing like the tough woman she's portrayed as in the media. Oh, really now? Coleman says, "I don't have much interaction with Kimora, but the times that I have been around her, she's very cordial. I spend a lot of time with their girls, and they're a beautiful reflection of her. I hear rumors that people say about her, but she's been nothing but a doll to me." As a matter of fact, Porschla says she has no need whatsover to watch her back when it comes to Kimora.

And for those of you who think you're hurting Coleman's feelings by referring to her as a certified golddigger, think again. The beauty, who has been dating Russell for the past 10 months says she is not concerned and/or worried about other folks perception because at the end of the day, she knows where her heart is. 'I made a connection with Russell that people will never understand. No one is gonna get in the way of how I feel about him. People are gonna say what they wanna say, and I can't control that, but I know where my heart is.' As for Simmons' and Coleman's significant age difference (like Kimora, at 50-years-old, he's also old enough to be Porschla's papa), Coleman claims, 'Well, bottom line, I'm an adult. It's my decision in what I choose to do. Growing up, I was always the more mature one; I've had this older mentality. I've always played 'Mama' in every situation, so it was only natural that I ended up with an older guy.'

THROWBACK PICS: MAIA CAMPBELL IN KING MAG; ACTRESS DISHED ON SUGE, SHAQ & JAY-Z.

**BUMPING UP AN OLDIE, BUT GOODIE. BLOG ENTRY ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON NOVEMBER 6, 2007 (CLICK HERE TO READ THE COMMENTS)**

This girl! Bless her heart. I've always been a fan of her and her mother. But for her to be such a beautiful girl, the craziness she once embraced wasn't a good look at all. I just want her to get better....to get the help her mother so desperately wanted for her before she passed away. Here I was thinking her mental illness had gotten worse within the past couple of years, but low and behold I find this excerpt from her 2002 King magazine interview which proves, at least to me, she'd been a bit off for a while now.

However, that was then, these days, from my understanding, Maia has pulled herself together since the death of her mother, best-selling author Bebe Moore Campbell. Moore Campbell died at the age of 56 on November 27, 2006 from complications related to brain cancer...just one day after Maia's 30th birthday. It's no secret that Maia, who scored the biggest role of her career as 'Tiffany Warren' on UPN's In the House, privately battled drug abuse. Soon as the hit sitcom was canceled, rumors of Maia's drug abuse and erratic behavior around Hollywood began to swarm around the Internet and beyond. In the July 2004 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine, Maia candidly admitted to abusing drugs while vehemently denying rumors that she's a certified nut job. 'I am not a psycho. There's a rumor going around that I'm a psycho,' Maia told the magazine. The actress's rapid decline into drugs and whispers of the beauty being bi-polar is what some believed was the catalyst that strained her relationship with her mother. And some speculate Bebe's last novel, 72 Hour Hold, was loosely based on her relationship with her daughter.....

CLICK ON THE PIC BELOW to read what Maia had to say about Jay-Z, Shaq and Suge Knight. And don't forget to CHECK OUT THROWBACK PICS OF MAIA'S PHOTOSHOOT IN KING MAGAZINE BY CLICKING 'READ MORE AFTER THE JUMP!' ON THE BOTTOM LEFT.

...Whatever the case may be, Maia says she was able to make peace with her mother before she passed away. And I know from from personal experience (I lost my father to bone cancer in 2005) that a moment like that is a truly welcoming comfort as well as one of the most precious privileges God can ever bestow upon you. Some say Maia has gotten herself together and has become stronger since her mother's untimely death. Maia says she now finds happiness from the love she feels for her family, true friends, her profound belief in God and everything else that makes life worth living, bless her heart. It's true what they say: Loosing a loved one can have one of two effects on a person. Either you'll fall by the wayside something terrible OR you'll get your dusty ass up, brush yourself off and get back on the right track in order to move on with your life.

These days Maia is busy taking care of her young daughter, Elizabeth Elisha Gutierrez (who is named after Maia's mother) and operating her production company, MCC which is a multi-tasked business that provides today's film and television culture with quality entertainment.

It makes me feel good to be able to write such a positive story on her because Lord knows there aren't too many out there. I just hope in the future I can continue to post more inspiring stories involving her.

Let's continue to hope and pray for the best for her.

NEW PICS: TOCCARA JONES PHOTOSPREAD IN KING MAGAZINE

Former America's Next Top Model contestant and returning Celebrity Fit Club (VH1) castmate, Toccara Jones shows off the fruits of her workout labor in the May 2008 issue of King magazine. Some guys (and even some girls) may agree that judging by the plus-size model's photospread, she gives the phrase “How Do Ya Like Them Apples?” a new meaning. In her feature cover story, Jones plugs her soon-to-be released fitness DVD, Toccara's Fabulous Workout for 'real-size women,' she says. 'It's going to include a 30-minute workout, a 10-minute arm workout, a 10-minute leg workout and a 10-minute ab workout, so it'll be a full hour. With other workout DVDs, 15 minutes in, you're huffing and puffing and can't get through it. Fitness people make fitness DVDs; it's too intense. I don't think they take into consideration a real person is working out to their DVD. Mine will be challenging, but you'll be able to finish it with a sense of accomplishment. And that does something for your self-esteem. People see me on television and say, 'Oh, Toccara needs to lose some weight,' or 'Toccara is too big.' They put me in this little box, and when they see me in person, they realize that I'm not that big, or they say I lost weight. My main think is just to be healthy, to love who you are. So I figured if I did this workout DVD, it could help people. It's not necessarily about being a certain size. It's about being healthy and loving the skin that you're in.'

Tune in to VH1 to watch Celebrity Fit Club (which also stars Queen of Comedy comedian Sommore) Thursday nights at 9 p.m. on Vh1. Until then, check out the 40-36-40 diva in all of her fruity glory below.

And in true Toccara fashion, the 25-year-old brick house who still wears a G-cup-size bra, has no problem at all tooting her own horn when it comes to talking about her buxom body. 'You know, my body has always been fabulous, but since America's Next Top Model, it has gotten sexier, more toned and voluptuous. The weight loss (from her current stint of Celebrity Fit Club) just makes my breasts fit better in my bras. I don't have the double-dip, like when you wear your bra and have that overage. They just fit perfectly. Man, I'm just a bad, big chick. All my body parts are fabulous; there's no need to pick out or focus on any particular one. All the big girls of the world, it's all good to be thick and fab. Let's take over the world.'

(KING) MAG SCANS: SALLI RICHARDSON: 'SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD, THERE'S A GUY WHO'S SICK OF FUCKING A HALLE BERRY.'

Salli Richardson's middle name should be multi-tasker. This veteran actress can do it all--from a leading role in the Sci-Fi Channel show, Eureka to a portraying Will Smith's spouse in his latest $150 million blockbuster I Am Legend, to her most important role--mother of her three year old daughter, Parker and wife of five years to fellow actor, Dondre Whitfield.

With past rumored relationships (before wedding Whitfield, of course) with Matthew McConaughey and the late Tupac Shakur, this beautiful biracial beauty (her mother is half African American/half Native American (Cherokee); and her father is half Irish/half Italian) who, along with her longtime boyfriend at the time, actor Glen Plummer (South Central) was once named one of Ebony magazine's 1995 Top 10 Hottest Couples of the Year, knows a thing or two when it comes to sniffing out a trifling-ass man (with the exception of Whitfield, of course).

And Richardson-Whitfield is also very well aware that a woman's physical characteristics a la Halle Berry, doesn't mean shit when it comes to a man remaining faithful in his relationship. I heard that!

FIND OUT HER TAKE ON HALLE BERRY AFTER THE JUMP!

The 40-year-old actress tells King magazine, 'There's no game you can try to play that I haven't seen or maybe done myself. We've all been lied to before. When you're younger, you know niggas are lying to you, but you choose not to believe it. You say, 'I know this shit don't sound right, but I believe him.' When you're older, you go, 'You know what? You're lying. And I choose not to believe your shit no matter how much you say it wasn't you.' ...And people always use Halle Berry as a reference. Somewhere in the world, there's a guy who's sick of fucking a Halle Berry.

You can have the finest chick, and then one day, for some reason, you're sick of fucking her, and you get someone who isn't even as cute. People go, 'He's got a Halle Berry--why is he messing with this girl with two babies?"

KING MAGAZINE TELLS USHER TO GET THE TASTE OF 'CHILLI' OUT OF HIS MOUTH.

After spotting this article in King magazine, the first thing I did was scan it before sending it to Erika who runs Usher's number 1 fansite, Usherforever.com. Originally, I thought her readers would get more of a kick out of it (and believe me they did and then some!) than mine. But after re-reading the article, for some reason I laughed a bit harder than I did after first time I read it...and because of that, I said to myself, 'Why should Usher's fans be the only ones to get their laugh on after reading this funny (and a wee bit true) story?! And that's why I decided to share the article with my readers...and my readers readers...and my readers readers readers...and so forth and so on. Yall get the picture!
