T.I. refuses to let his current house arrest keep him from handling his business. The rapper has just signed on to serve as the executive producer of a new reality show based on the life and times of rapper MARS. The show, tentatively titled Life On Mars, chronicles the chaotic daily life of an impressionable young hip hop prodigy caught in between two opposing worlds and on the edge of creating, dominating and changing the sound of a generation. Viewers will witness the 22-year-old Los Angeles native as he handles everyday life while trying to juggle writing hits for various big name artists such as Jay-Z, Chris Brown, The Game, Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne as well as his band 1500 Or Nothing. While the new series can be loosely described as MTV’s Life of Ryan meets VH1’s Behind The Music, the show has the potential to be wildly popular beyond both and promises to push the reality genre forward into un-charted waters.
Life On Mars will also capture Mars (real name Lamar Edwards), the son of a preacher who was booted from his father's home as a teenager after making the choice to devote his life to music rather than the Lord, as he also handles being pressured to be a part of his father’s church. The show has already received rave reviews and is currently being shopped to various major TV networks. No word yet on how and/or if T.I.'s upcoming trial on several felony weapon charges will conflict with the rapper's new gig.
