I swear the things some rappers do and/or say for a little attention is utterly ridiculous. The Game has been "subliminally" insulting JAY-Z on his records - in a bizarre bid to get the hip-hop mogul to work with him. The Compton, Cali. native took shots at Jay-Z via his music on tracks like It's Okay (One Blood), after hearing a freestyle the 99 Problems star made that The Game thought was aimed at him. It turned out to be a misunderstanding, but The Game says he's glad it happened because Jay-Z has now acknowledged his presence in the rap game. And he hopes their lyrical exchange will lead to them hooking up in the studio. He says, "Even though me and (Jay-Z) don't talk or do songs, he knows. He listens. He heard the You're 38, and you're still rappin', ugh' (from It's Okay (One Blood)). He came back on Kingdom Come and I was like, 'Yeah! Jay listens to my s**t! (When Jay said) 'I used to think that rapping at 38 was ill / Till last year I grossed about 38 mill.' I was like, 'I know who he is talkin' to. I know he listens. I know his antenna's up.' Maybe one day he'll do a song with me, and then I'll stop shooting subliminals."

While paternity secrets, marital infidelity, greed and unsavory business dealings threaten to derail both families, Charlotte and Alice decide to take a breather from it all by making a cross-country road trip in which they rediscover themselves and possibly find a way to save their families from ruin. Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys opens nationwide in theaters on September 12, 2008 and is also Perry's first film with a prominent storyline involving white characters.

RUSSELL SIMMONS' FORMER GIRLFRIEND CLEARS UP RUMORS ON THEIR BREAK-UP.

Russell Simmons' former girlfriend has blasted reports the hip-hop mogul's controlling ways led to their split - calling him her "best friend". Former Star Search model Porschla Coleman came to Simmons' defense last Friday (7.11.2008), hitting back at claims his demanding personality put a strain on their relationship. She tells the New York Daily News, "I am not prepared to go into detail, but Russell is my best friend. There is no anger on either of our parts. It was a mutual decision. We just decided to be friends, and we're both very happy." Coleman adds Simmons has even helped her redecorate her new apartment, now that she is moving out of the pair's shared home. She says, "It's around the corner, and he helped me pick it (the furniture) out." The couple began dating in 2007 but split last month (June 2008) after Russell's former wife, Kimora Lee Simmons was granted sole custody and the legal authority to make all decisions in relation to their kids' health, education and welfare. In addition, the model will also receive the $480,000-a-year in child support as per her request. Simmons is expected to continue paying the sum until 2019 for Ming Lee, 6, and 2022 for Aoki, 4.

Another insider said Russell has made his moves, too, and is "back to playing the field."

NEW PERFORMANCE PICS: JAY-Z & RIHANNA PERFORM TOGETHER AT THISDAY'S MUSIC & FASHION FESTIVAL IN NIGERIA.

Well, fans attending Thisday's Music and Fashion festival were on their best behavior after Jay-Z and Rihanna hit the stage last Friday night. As the opening act, Rihanna began her set by treating the fans to a short rendition of her first hit, Pon de Replay, before dancing her way into Turn Me On Boy and Shut Up and Drive. When it looked as if the Barbados singer was wrapping up her show, Jay-Z appeared from backstage and joined her before performing Rih-Rih's biggest hit to date and obviously a crowd favorite, Umbrella. Jay-Z then stayed on stage solo - performing his hit single Show Me What You Got before offering up a one-sided rendition he and Beyonce’s duet, Crazy in Love.

NEW PEFORMANCE PICS: FIGHT BREAKS OUT AT USHER'S CONCERT IN NIGERIA.

Over the weekend Usher performed in concert at Thisday's 3rd 'Africa Rising' Festival in Abuja, Nigeria. But before the artist could complete his set fight broke out in the crowd. According to reports, the singer was performing at around 1 a.m. when the drunken brawl took place in front of the stage. Security guards attempted to break up the scuffle as members of the crowd were shoved towards the platform and one man was removed from the venue, The Dome. It is currently unclear whether the unnamed male was arrested, as one source claimed, or was simply forbidden from re-entering the concert. Nobody was seriously injured. Although no reason was given as to what provoked the fight, I'm willing to bet if Usher gave the audience the same awful-ass, piss-poor, lip-syncing performance reminiscent of his 2008 BET awards show opening, then hell, I'd probably want to fight somebody too...maybe even his ass. In other Usher news, he has been tapped to 'boost' Barack Obama's presidential campaign, by performing at the Democratic Convention next month (August 2008). Usher's manager Benny Medina says Usher has been approached about appearing at the event in Denver, Colorado in August. Medina tells the New York Daily News, "There've been offers to do things in and around the convention and we are just looking to see which one will be the most productive. He is obviously a huge Barack supporter."

WENDY WILLIAMS NEW TALK SHOW TO PREMIERE MONDAY, JULY,14, 2008 + CANDID PICS.

Starting Monday and running for the next six weeks, Wendy 'Monkey Feet' Williams new live, hour-long, daytime talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, will air on Fox at 1 p.m. With th show produced before a New York audience, expect fans who are devotees. "I start with a very, very devoted fan base," Williams said. "My sidekicks will be my audience; I really want the smartest, freshest audience in all of daytime. My set is fabulous and my theme song by David Vanacore says it all -- 'Say say say it; feel it, feel it, feel it; how you doing? Shout it out.'...We're embracing the old-school way of doing talk shows where the audience is very much a part of the show." On the other side of the screen, Williams said the target viewership is "women aged 25-40, the usual daytime audience. In terms of color, I'm a black woman, so my natural fan base would be black women. But in actuality, plenty of different people listen to The Wendy Williams Experience. Heterosexual men are embarrassed because they feel it's a gay man's thing, but that's not true either, you know? But if you're interested in me, I'm interested in you. I take everyone."

What will you see? Three segments look to be regular. First are "Hot topics ... which is what's going on with Michelle Obama ...or Lindsay Lohan's mom's reality show," she says. "I love pop culture, hot guys, hot women, hot restaurants, great clothing." Then there'll be celebrity interviews with those who can stand some astringent querying. "This is not the Jay Leno interview," Williams warned. "I guarantee that Wendy will give a more interesting twist for my audience. That's my job: to put the remix on what others are doing."

The shock-jock-turned-talk-show hostwas spotted shopping for shades at the Solstice store in New York City earlier this month looking a hot-ass mess....as usual.

Recently divorced Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was spotted leaving the exclusive restaurant ZUMA in Londons Knightsbridge with his girlfriend, who bares a strong resemblance to his ex-wife. Sources say the wrestler-turned-actor and his new boo enjoyed each other's company for about an hour and a half before leaving the eatery....with a big ass toothy-grin plastered on his face! That's the grin of a very happy man in love. So uh, who wants to break what could be really heartbreaking news to The Rock's crush, Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas of TLC? Bless her heart.

Although we haven't heard or seen much of Ms. Mya as of late, it doesn't mean the singer/actress has been spending her of idle time twiddling her thumbs or frolicking on the beaches of Barbados in a hot pink halter-style bikini as shown in the photos below taken last weekend. The singer had been in the Caribbean to attend a charity event, which she never showed up to due to issues beyond her control. Last May I told you all that Mya had broken her foot thereby postponing her Broadway debut in the musical Chicago. Fortunately, the singer has made a speedy recovery and has underwent physical therapy, according to her manager. She is now in dance rehearsals for Chicago. Her manager also said that fans could possibly hear a new album from Mya as early as this fall. Now, that I will have to see to believe. Too many false starts. On the movie front, Mya has just wrapped filming on Love for Sale; a comedy/drama where she plays the lead female role of Keiley. The film was written/produced by syndicated radio show host Russ Parr and also stars Jackie Long, Jason Weaver, Melyssa Ford, Essence Atkins, Big Daddy Kane and Clifton Powell. JENNIFER HUDSON MOVIE UPDATES ON TYLER PERRY'S 'THE FAMILY THAT PREYS TOGETHER' & 'THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES.'

Back in January, I told you all that Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson was in negotiations to co-star in Tyler Perry's new film, The Family the Preys Together (which will be released in September) alongside Perry, Sanaa Lathan, Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Rockmond Dunbar, Taraji Henson and Robin Givens. Well, the key word in that post was "negotiations." Hudson will not be in the film; however she will appear on the big screen on October 17, 2008 in The Secret Life of Bees (based on Sue Monk Kidd's bestselling novel) alongside Alica Keys, Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning and Sophie Okonedo. Set in South Carolina in 1964, the film is the moving tale of Lily Owens (Fanning) a 14 year-old girl who is haunted by the memory of her late mother (played by Hilari Burton). To escape her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father, Lily flees with Rosaleen (Hudson), her caregiver and only friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother's past. Taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters (Latifah, Okonedo and Keys), Lily finds solace in their mesmerizing world of beekeeping, honey and the Black Madonna. “It’s very raw, very raw. It affected each of us in some kind of way,” says Hudson. “Like with me, I had to do research like crazy on the civil rights movement. That messed with my mind. And then I had to fight three white men because I was my own stunt double. Dakota, Queen and Tristan (Wilds) had to go to bee school and learn how to deal with bees. Alicia had to learn how to play the cello. I’ve never had to be this involved in anything in my life! I had to touch a bug. I had a fit, honey. I nearly lost my mind! It was a beetle, but luckily, it was beautiful.”

In other Hudson news, the singer is reportedly getting a few stings after her self-titled album cover (click picture on the right to see its full image), which shows a tiny-waist, slimmed-down, svelte figure of the singer hit the Internet recently. Sources have denied that Hudson’s photo was retouched using photo shop. Some reports claim record label execs at J Records implemented the same photo-retouching experts used on the cover of Mariah Carey's latest album. Nothing doing. "Yes, that’s Hudson’s waist and her ample top half. She has a thin waist,” the insider insists. Hudson's album is scheduled to hit stores on September 30, 2008. There’s also talk, Hudson says, of recording a song for the soundtrack of The Secret Life of Bees, with costars Latifah and Keys. “It would be an honor for me to do a song with them,” Hudson cooed.
